The Makers

Lombok is home to a vibrant community of skilled craft makers, who preserve and celebrate the island's cultural heritage through intricate handwoven textiles, traditional pottery, and unique wooden crafts.

Upon spending a week living in a homestay in the village of Tetebatu, I put together a collection of shots to showcase the family members I stayed with, as individuals, but also to reflect their craft using ancient techniques handed down from generation to generation.

Their craft is not only a source of pride for the local community but also contributes to the island’s economy, attracting visitors and supporting local livelihoods.
